Banning users¶
Ban or unban a VRChat user from your connected group using Discord. Use the dashboard to review bans and configure where staff receive ban requests.
Requirements¶
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Your access | Administrator, or the Ban users from the group feature grant, to ban in Discord. Dashboard ban-list access needs Manage Server or higher; settings need Administrator. |
| LogDog in Discord | View Channel, Send Messages, and Embed Links in moderation and ban-request channels; Attach Files for CSV exports. |
| LogDog in VRChat | View Audit Log and Manage Group Bans. Role position must allow the action. |
| Plan | Free. Dashboard CSV export requires Premium. |
See the permissions matrix for all features.
On the dashboard¶
Open Moderation → Banned users to search the recorded ban list. To route ban requests to a staff channel, open Settings → Ban requests and choose the channel.
The dashboard ban list is for review. Ban and unban actions currently run from Discord.
In Discord¶
/ban user<user_id>[reason]: ban a VRChat user by theirusr_…ID./ban unban<user_id>: lift a ban./ban list: show the ban list and attach a CSV with ban dates, names, and VRChat IDs.
Warn and kick logs also have a Ban button. Confirm the action and optionally add a reason. A Group User Ban log has an Unban button.
To grant a staff role access, use Settings → Feature Permissions on the dashboard or
/permissions add ban <role…> in Discord.
Requesting a ban¶
A member without ban permission can click Ban on a log to submit a request with a reason. An authorized moderator must then choose Ban or Deny. Submitting a request does not ban the user.
Requests mention the roles allowed to ban. They appear in the channel where the request
was made unless you set a dedicated channel in Settings → Ban requests or
/config → Moderation. Make sure that channel is visible to the staff who review it.
If LogDog cannot post there, it falls back to the original channel.
If a requested ban fails, the request shows the failure and restores its Ban and Deny buttons so a moderator can retry or close it.
Reasons and attribution¶
The resulting log identifies the Discord moderator and includes any reason they supplied. VRChat's own audit entry names the LogDog account because that account performs the ban. Reasons can be edited later; see Moderation reasons.
Troubleshooting¶
If VRChat rejects a ban, LogDog posts a follow-up mentioning the moderator with the error. Check Manage Group Bans and the LogDog account's role position: it cannot ban a member at the same or a higher rank. LogDog also refuses to ban its own VRChat accounts.
