Announcements¶
Write announcements on the dashboard and publish them to Discord, VRChat, or both. You can also mirror selected Discord messages into VRChat and bring VRChat posts into Discord.
Requirements¶
| Requirement | Details |
|---|---|
| Your access | Administrator to configure or publish on the dashboard; Manage Server or higher to browse history. Discord publishing also accepts the Post announcements to VRChat feature grant. |
| LogDog in Discord | View Channel, Send Messages, and Embed Links in destination channels. Add Reactions and Read Message History in the sync channel for status reactions. Ping roles must be mentionable, or LogDog needs permission to mention all roles. |
| LogDog in VRChat | View Audit Log for group activity; Manage Announcements to create, edit, or remove posts. |
| Plan | Free: 4 announcements per hour, 10 per day, and history up to 30 days. Premium: 12 per hour, 40 per day, plus 90-day/all-time history. |
Set up on the dashboard¶
- Open Settings → Announcements.
- Under Applies to every announcement, choose VRChat post visibility and any Discord roles to ping.
- Under LogDog Dashboard Announcement Settings, choose the Discord announcement channel if you want Discord copies.
- Check that the settings saved, then open Announcements to write and publish a post now or schedule it.
Dashboard publishing does not require automatic syncing to be enabled. Its composer lets you choose Discord, VRChat, or both. An HTTPS image link can appear on the Discord copy; LogDog cannot attach that image to the VRChat post.
The Announcements page also shows each post's delivery state and errors. Administrators can edit or remove posts LogDog created and approve posts waiting for review.
Set up automatic syncing¶
In Settings → Announcements → Discord ⇄ VRChat Announcement Syncing, choose a direction: Off, Discord to VRChat, VRChat to Discord, or Both directions.
| Setting | Purpose |
|---|---|
| Sync channel | Discord channel where a supported mention triggers a VRChat post. Threads under it also count. |
| Trigger roles | Up to five roles whose mentions can trigger a post. This depends on LogDog's Message Content access; see below. |
| Notify members | Send a VRChat notification for synced posts. The dashboard composer and Apps action ask per post. |
| Ask for approval | Hold synced posts for staff review in the notification channel. A notification channel must be set first. |
| Mirror deletes | Remove LogDog's VRChat copy when its source Discord message is deleted; enabled by default. |
For approval previews and delivery problems, set Settings → Notifications. See Service notifications.
Publish from Discord¶
Grant staff Post announcements to VRChat in Settings → Feature Permissions, or use
/permissions add announcements <role…>. Administrators already have access.
The role mentioned as a trigger does not itself grant publishing access.
There are three ways to send a message to VRChat:
- Mention
@LogDogin the sync channel. This is the simplest automatic trigger. - Mention a configured trigger role in the sync channel. This requires LogDog to have
application-level Message Content access. A server role cannot grant that access;
use
@LogDogor the Apps action if role triggers are unavailable. - Right-click a message → Apps → Post announcement to VRChat. This can use a message outside the sync channel and asks whether to notify members.
LogDog adds a status reaction to the source message. Problems go to the author by DM, or to the notification channel if the DM fails. Approval previews also go to the notification channel, where authorized staff can choose Post to VRChat.
What gets posted¶
Discord text becomes plain text: mentions become names, formatting is stripped, and custom emoji are removed. The first line becomes the title. The VRChat post identifies the Discord author, but appears under LogDog's VRChat account. Discord attachments are not copied.
Edits and deletes¶
- Editing an automatically synced Discord message queues an update while its author still has publishing access. Edits to a message awaiting approval do not replace the preview.
- Deleting the source message removes its VRChat copy when Mirror deletes is enabled. Bulk deletes and channel purges do not remove the VRChat copies.
- Posts sent through the Apps action do not follow source-message edits or deletions. Manage those posts on the dashboard.
- Editing LogDog's post directly in VRChat detaches it from later Discord edits.
VRChat posts in Discord¶
With VRChat to Discord or Both directions enabled, posts made by other accounts in VRChat are mirrored to the Discord announcement channel. Copies include the text, author, and image when available. Text is shown as plain text.
VRChat edits update the Discord copy. Deleting the post in VRChat marks the copy Removed in VRChat instead of deleting the Discord message. Posts limited to specific VRChat roles appear in history but are not mirrored to the announcement channel.
Limits and history¶
The posting limits count announcements LogDog creates through the dashboard, mentions, and Apps action. Posts made directly in VRChat do not count. When the limit is reached, LogDog shows when it resets.
Free history ranges are 24 hours, 7 days, and 30 days. Premium adds 90 days and all time. Upgrading reveals older retained records; it does not recreate missing history. Removing a post keeps its history row.
