FAQ & troubleshooting¶
Start with Overview, Setup, or Diagnostics on the dashboard. These show the connected group, setup progress, and permission problems.
Jump to no logs arriving, setup waiting for access, or linked roles missing.
Setup and access¶
Can I set up without using Discord commands?
Yes. Sign in to the dashboard, select your server, add LogDog if needed, and open Setup. You still accept the account's join request and grant its permissions in VRChat. See Set up LogDog.
My server is missing, or I cannot edit settings
Check that you signed in with the correct Discord account. Dashboard access needs Manage Server, Administrator, or server ownership. Manage Server gives read access to most pages; setup and configuration require Administrator or ownership. A LogDog feature grant alone does not grant dashboard access.
Setup is waiting for the account to join
If your group requires approval, accept the join request from the exact account shown in setup. If requests are closed, invite the account using its profile link. LogDog detects the membership change automatically. Once the account is a member, allow up to about 10 minutes for setup to advance to the access check. Delays can be longer if VRChat is unavailable.
I granted audit-log access, but setup has not completed
- Check the account name and profile link in Setup against the member in your group.
- In VRChat, check that this member holds the role with View Audit Log enabled. Enabling the permission on a role does not assign that role to the account.
- Return to Setup, press Check now, and allow up to about 20 minutes for verification.
LogDog reminds you after 1 and 7 days on this step, and after 30 days without access it leaves the group and returns setup to the group step so you can start again (your channel settings are kept). Pressing Check now restarts that clock.
The setup page should show completion after access is verified. You do not need to restart setup while waiting. If it still has not advanced, follow Grant audit-log access.
A moderator can use a command but cannot open its dashboard link
Discord feature grants and dashboard access are separate. The dashboard needs Manage Server or Administrator. See Staff permissions.
Logs and channels¶
Setup is complete but no logs are arriving
- Check Overview/Diagnostics for paused logging or missing VRChat access.
- In Log Routing, confirm the event is enabled and has a destination channel.
- Check LogDog's View Channel, Send Messages, Embed Links, and Attach Files in that channel. Keep Read Message History for message updates too.
- Check whether the group has new audit-log activity. LogDog checks periodically; a quiet group produces no new logs.
- Open VRChat Audit Logs and inspect a recent event's delivery status. If the event is recorded there but is not in Discord, focus on its routing and channel access.
After fixing access or routing, check the next eligible event for delivery to the configured channel. Allow a few minutes for polling; a quiet group has no new logs. You do not need to disconnect the group or restart setup to change routing.
How quickly do logs appear?
Usually within a few minutes, sometimes around 10 minutes or longer during delays. LogDog checks VRChat periodically; it does not receive every event immediately.
How do I change the destination channel?
Open Log Routing on the dashboard, or use /events → Channel in Discord.
You do not need to restart setup or delete the configuration.
How do I keep log channels private?
Configure the category/channel permissions in Discord: hide it from @everyone
and allow the staff roles that need it. LogDog attempts this for new categories,
but warns if Discord refuses and the category is created public. Existing channels
keep their permissions. LogDog's /permissions grants do not change visibility.
Can I change log colors?
Premium servers can change colors per event in Log Routing, or use
/events → Colors. Free servers use the configured severity colors.
Will LogDog post all the old audit logs into Discord?
Initial sync posts a recent selection, 25 events by default. Available older history is imported for the dashboard subject to import limits, on both Free and Premium.
Moderation and other features¶
A ban or join-request response failed
Read the failure on the Discord message. Ban/unban needs Manage Group Bans in VRChat; approving/denying requests needs Manage Group Invites. Deny & Block also needs Manage Group Bans. Role rank can prevent actions against equal/higher-ranked members. See the permissions matrix.
Linked roles are not being assigned
- Check Settings → Account linking: linking must be enabled and the intended Linked/18+ roles selected.
- In Discord's role settings, give LogDog Manage Roles and place its role above every role it assigns.
- Confirm the member completed the account-linking steps.
- If only the 18+ role is missing, check the status VRChat reports. A bio statement
does not grant this role. A member whose status changed can use
/reverify.
Successful linking grants the configured Linked role; the 18+ role also requires VRChat's verified 18+ status. If a VRChat group role is missing instead, use Role sync troubleshooting.
Where do setup alerts and reminders go?
Choose Settings → Notifications → Notification channel, or /config →
Notifications. See Service notifications
for fallback channels and the dashboard notification bell.
What does LogDog log?
See the Event catalog. Instance turnout records player counts, not individual attendance.
Premium and removal¶
Can I connect several groups to one server?
No. Each server connects to one VRChat group, and each group connects to one server. Disconnect the current group before connecting a different one.
LogDog lost access
Restore the displayed account's VRChat membership and View Audit Log, or re-add the Discord bot if removed. LogDog resumes after checking access. Follow the deadline in the alert; the default grace window is 24 hours. See Managing access loss.
If the bot was removed and the group belongs in a different server now, its VRChat owner
can move it right away with /setup there. See
Moving the group to another server.
How do I remove LogDog?
Use Settings → Delete configuration or /setup → Delete configuration to
disconnect the group, then remove the Discord bot. Existing Discord channels and
delivered logs remain for you to delete if desired. Disconnecting is not a complete
data-erasure request; see the Privacy Policy.
