Grant VRChat permissions

LogDog needs View Audit Log on its VRChat account to read your group's activity. Grant additional permissions only for the features you want to use.

Before you start

  • You need permission to manage roles in the VRChat group.
  • Use the account name and profile link shown during setup. LogDog may use a different account for another group.
  • If LogDog sent a join request, accept it in VRChat first. It must be a group member before you can assign its role.

Give the account the View Audit Log permission

  1. Open your group on the VRChat website and go to Settings → Roles.
  2. Create a role for LogDog, or choose an existing role.
  3. Enable View Audit Log on that role.
  4. Assign the role to the LogDog account shown during setup.
  5. Return to the dashboard or Discord setup message and wait for the access check. Allow up to about 20 minutes for this step.

You do not need to restart setup while waiting. After setup completes, the dashboard's Diagnostics page shows the account's access.

Optional feature permissions

Add these to the same VRChat role as needed:

Feature VRChat permission
Ban or unban members Manage Group Bans
Approve or deny join requests Manage Group Invites
Deny & Block a join request Manage Group Invites and Manage Group Bans
Assign VRChat roles from Discord roles Assign Roles
Post scheduled events Manage Calendar
Post announcements Manage Announcements

The account's role position can also limit which members it can ban or which roles it can assign. Instance access affects which instances it can see; Join Group Instances is one of the permissions checked by Diagnostics.

For Discord requirements and staff access, see the permissions matrix.

Keep the access in place

Keep View Audit Log enabled while you use LogDog. Removing the account or revoking access stops logging and may prevent other features from working. See If LogDog loses access.

Troubleshooting

If setup is still waiting after about 20 minutes, check that:

  • the join request was accepted;
  • you assigned the role to the account named in setup;
  • the assigned role has View Audit Log enabled.

If you cannot edit VRChat roles, ask your group owner to make these changes. For other setup problems, see the FAQ.
